Ciara McCoy

Hello, my name is Ciara McCoy and I am the owner and sole therapist of McCoy Counseling L.L.C. I moved up to Summit County in September 2018 and am very grateful to call this beautiful place home. I completed my Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado and am registered as a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I am also working on obtaining my Licensed Addiction Counselor credential and should have it in the next few months.

I believe that everyone has the power and strength to overcome the obstacles and turbulence that is bound to interfere with our lives, and sometimes we need a guiding hand for support. I feel honored when I am able to join my clients in their therapeutic journeys to the better life or relationship that they desire.

I work with children, adolescents, adults, and families. I specialize in working with people who have experiences of trauma such as: child abuse and neglect (specifically sexual abuse), interpersonal violence, sexual assault, emotional abuse, substance misuse, etc. I also specialize in working with individuals in the queer community. I believe that we are all part of many systems and therefore we have to work within those systems in order to grow and heal. We are all unique and therefore I utilize an individualized treatment plan for each person(s), that we will create together. It is important that you feel like your opinion and desires are valued in this relationship. I am trained in and use many varieties of therapy including: Trauma- Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Polyvagal Theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS) Approach, Attachment Theory, and Narrative Therapy.

  • Work Experience

Besides working as a  Clinical Therapist for McCoy Counseling, L.L.C., I am also the Clinical Program Manager at Mile High Behavioral Healthcare in Frisco, CO. Prior to that, I worked as a Mental Health Professional with Summit School District for five years years. Before I moved to Summit County in 2018, I worked in a wide variety of different mental health settings across the Denver Metro area, primarily with children and families, but I also worked with many adults and individuals within the queer community.
